GUS S. KARAGIANNIDES, age 76 of Canton, passed away early Wednesday morning after an extended illness. Born in Elazzona, Greece to the late Socrates and Maria Karagiannides he was preceded in death by sons Socrates and John. A Canton resident since 1954, Gus retired from the Timken Roller Bearing Company after 45 years of service. He also worked as a house painter providing jobs for Greek immigrants helping them to find work. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Judy (Ahmed) Karagiannides, son George Karagiannides of Canton, granddaughter Maria Karagiannides, brothers Taso (Fina) and Kaleanthie (Fannie) both of Elazzona, Greece, sisters Georgia Yonides and Christina (Nick) Harlomarbides all of Greece. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10 to 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with funeral services to follow at 11, Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
