Martin L. Baroni, age 92 of Massillon, passed away Friday morning. He was born in Garrett, PA to the late Martin and Rose Baroni; he was a graduate of McKinley High School. Martin was a prisoner of war in Germany during WWII while serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for 19 years at Hercules Engines, then 15 years at Massillon State Hospital, followed by another 15 years at Apple Creek. Martin enjoyed sharing his stories of the war, and also loved family gatherings during the holidays. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Lena DiManno, and brothers Lester, Neil, Harry, Ernest, Pete, and Constantine (Stump). He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna Baroni; daughter Sharon (Joseph) Nardis; and sister Ann Turkal. He is also survived by his granddaughter Stacey (Shawn) McPherson; great-granddaughter Brooke McPherson; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Wednesday 11 a.m to 12 noon at Canton Baptist Temple. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon, with Pastor Jake Tovassi as celebrant. Interment will follow at Robertsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sharing and Caring at Canton Baptist Temple.
