Nick J. Sama

Nick J. Sama, age 92 of Canton, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. He was born in San Andrea, Italy on August 10, 1925 to the late Joseph and Caterina (Perosi) Sama. Nick served for the U.S. Army, and after worked as a Processing Engineer for Babcock and Wilcox, where he retired after 40 years. He also worked for County Clerk of Courts for several years. He was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and the San Andrea Society and the Ben V. Marconi Sons of Italy Lodge 1628. He also enjoyed playing bocci ball at Weis Park and was an avid bowler. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Vincent and Tony Sama, and sister Anna Bressi. Nick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anna (Pisani); children Joe (Gina) Sama of Florida, Teresa (Charles) Almasy of Canton, and Kathy (Dean) Apostalides of Arizona. Also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Sons of Italy service starting at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with Very Reverend. John E. Sheridan, S.T.L, Rector as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary cemetery. A special thank you to Donna, Angela, Nancy, Debbie, Ryan and Eric who comforted those who mourned.
