Nick G. Xides, age 87 of Canton, passed away Tuesday morning surrounded by his loving family. Born in Stemnitsa, Greece to the late Gust and Sophia (Koukouma) Xides, he was preceded in death by his sister Maxine Shinas, brothers Peter G. (Ann) Xides, James G. Xides and sister-in-law Mary Xides. Nick was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, Canton AHEPA #59, and the Canton Masonic Lodge #60. He was retired from D&H Tool & Die. Nick was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Ellie N. (Mergus) Xides, children; Nick K. and Marnetta Xides of Warren, Sophia and Robert Witherell of Pennsylvania, Dean and Christine Xides, Demetri Xides all of Canton, grandchildren Maria and Nicole Xides, Luca Marcelli, sister and brother-in-law Katie and Ron Darrah, Douglas G. “Lefty” Xides, sister-in-law Nancy L. Xides all of Canton, brother-in-law George Shinas of Cleveland, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home and Friday morning from 10 to 11 am at church. Masonic services will be held Thursday at 4:45 pm, AHEPA services at 5:30 pm and a Trisagion service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Internment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church or the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Affinity Hospital, The Landings and Crossroads Hospice for all their loving care and kindness.
