Richard “Dick” Racey, age 86 of North Canton, passed away Tuesday morning after an extended illness. Born in Canton to the late George and Catherine (Jennings) Racey, he was a graduate of McKinley High School. Dick was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Senior Citizens of Holy Trinity and the Canton Elks. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in 1990 with over 30 years as an engineer. He was an Army and Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife Bessie (Matinides) Racey, son Mark, and sisters Dorothy Tucke and Georgia George. He is survived by his children; Sandra Zaveson, Cathy Giavasis both of North Canton, Richard A. (Sharon) Racey of Bradenton, FL, Debra (Carey) Clark of Minerva, OH, 10 grandchildren; Richard D. and Jakab M. Racey, Daniel Jeffries, Mark Zaveson, David J. Reusser, Kaitlyn Zaveson, Philip M. and Athena A. Giavasis, Chelsea and Brett Clark, and five great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home where Trisagion Services will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
