Rosaria M. (Morelli) Lioi

Rosaria M. (Morelli) Lioi, 91, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, following an extended illness. Rosaria was born in Canton, Ohio, on June 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Frank and Raful Morelli. In addition to her parents, Rosaria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruno Lioi, Jr., her daughter, Mary Germann, her son, Joseph Lioi, her brothers, Francesco and Paul Morelli, and her sister, Orsola Thrasher. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her children, Carmela Lioi, Bruno (Julie) Lioi, Raphael (James) Hill, Frank (Cindy) Lioi, Paul (Tara) Lioi, and Sara Lioi; seventeen grandchildren, Nicholas (Tammi) Kennedy, Jennifer (Nick) Cox, Emily Germann, Julie (Cody) Love, Tony Lioi, Matthew (Angela) Lioi, Andrew Lioi, Sam Lioi, David Lioi, James Lioi, John Lioi, Seth Cardwell, Hannah Cardwell, Janell Cardwell, Jennah Cardwell, Brad Pfleegor, and Kris (Candice) Pfleegor; and seven great-grandchildren, Michael Kennedy, Milo Kennedy, Gavin Harrison, Piper Harrison, Lennon Cox, Ethan Pfleegor, and Austin Pfleegor; her sister, Catherine Nardecchia, and sister-in-law, Elspeth Brown; son-in-law, Doug Germann; and a multitude of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Rosaria relished spending time with family and friends, loved to take car rides (short and long), and enjoyed occasional “mission trips.” She will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, sage advice, loving heart, hilarious dry humor, wicked rummy strategies, obsessive organizing skills, precise meatball-making and cooking-baking requirements, unfailing fortitude, and ability to delight in simple pleasures. She always took particular care to ensure her family and all who visited were well-fed, including hosting large pizza parties and sneaking eggs in her grandchildren’s pastina. Throughout her life she had always counted herself as being blessed by her family; the same was felt in return. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, 10 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 3430 St. Michael Drive NW, Canton, OH 44718. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (Canton), where Rosaria cheerfully and faithfully volunteered for many years and made so very many friends.
