Our cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Steve J. Modich, age 89 of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He was born to the late Steve and Katherine Modich on October 17, 1928. A graduate of Timken Vocational High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Steve then married the love of his life, Rosalie Szasz, on July 2, 1949. They were married for 62 years, until her death in 2011. He was a contented man, and his passion was his family. Steve spent the best days of his life loving and caring for them. He and Rose resided at Leesville Lake for many years before moving to Alliance. He was an avid rabbit hunter, loved nature and animals; he enjoyed mowing and maintaining his yard, which he did up until a week before his death. Steve worked at Canton Drop Forge, Barrium Steel, and retired from Portec Forging Company. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers and a sister-in-law. He will be greatly missed by his children Steve (Janice) Modich, and Mary Beltz; special son-in-law Tom Beltz; grandchildren Stephanie (Bob) Reninger, Steve (Gagandeep) Modich, Michael Beltz and Matthew Beltz. Also survived by great-grandchildren Breanna Reninger and Zayne Modich; special brothers and sisters-in-law Rick (Donna) Czech, and Steve (Cathy) Szasz; and many nieces, nephews and Munger relatives. He is revered and will be missed by all. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Friday from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon in the funeral home, with Rev. Richard Lewandoski officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
