Vada M. (Russo) Fawley age 83 of Louisville, passed away Saturday evening. Born in Canton to the late Dominic and Nunziata (Tecca) Russo, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter Lugene, sisters Lucy Harper, Clara Miku, Martha Albright, Margaret Valentine, Evelyn Russo, Julia Russo, brothers Pat and Theodore Russo. A 1951 graduate of McKinley High School, Vada was a lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church of Canton and more recently, Christ the Servant Parish. Vada generously shared her cooking talent for over 40 years for many of the parish events at St. Paul. Working Bingo at both St. Paul and St. Thomas was definitely one of her favorite places to volunteer. While at Christ the Servant her service-oriented character earned her the nickname "The Pierogie Lady" at the Lenten fish frys. Vada enjoyed being a member of the Alter/Rosary Society and Mothers' Club at St. Paul. She also helped organize her annual high school class reunions. She is survived by her husband of 63 years William F. Fawley, daughters Nancy Fry, Teresa (Michael) Brately, Tina (David) Miller, "adopted" daughter Christine Klepek, seven grandchildren; Adam, Brian, and Bridget Brately, Hope Fry, Matthew, Maria and Marcus Miller, sisters Lena Russo, Antoinette (Patrick) Garvey, Adelia (Jim) Dager and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am at Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano as the celebrant. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas High School (2121 Reno Dr., Louisville) because of Vada's dedication, love, and support for this school.
