Barbara A. (Amiss) Kotagides, age 76 of Canton, passed away early Monday morning after an extended illness. Barbara was a 14 year lung transplant recipient. Born in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Andrew and Florence (Dean) Amiss, she also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years John P. Kotagides, brother Andrew “Bubba” Amiss Jr., in-laws Harry J. and Nicoliny (John) Kotagides and Judy Kotagides. Barbara was a 1959 graduate of John Marshall High School in Richmond, VA and a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. She worked as a cashier for Fisher Foods, Harrison Ave. store, for 20 years. Barbara is survived by her daughters Penni (Dave) Jones, Kim (John) Correll, grandson Colton Jones, brother Johnny (Diane) Amiss, brothers-in-law Jim (Olga) Kotagides and Harry Kotagides. Her daughters would like to thank St. Joe's Senior Living Center for the care and kindness they showed her over the past 4 months. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with services to follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara's name may be made to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
