Alexandros K. Petrakis passed away Thursday at the age of forty-eight surrounded by his family and friends. Alex had bravely fought cancer for two years with the loving support of his children. Alex was born in Canton, Ohio and was a graduate of Kent State University. He earned his livelihood in sales by using his best asset, which was his charismatic personality. He enjoyed traveling, especially to his ancestral homeland, Greece. He was a talented glassblower who kept busy helping others, as well as having a passion for working on and restoring historic cars. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Alex was preceded in death by his mother Helen Petrakis. He is survived by his children Sophia and Kosta, his father Konstantinos (Gust) Petrakis, and sisters Elizabeth, Evangelia, Athanasia, and Andriana. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, with Trisagion prayer service at 4:30 pm. Funeral service will be Monday, 11:00 am, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church where family will receive an hour before from 10-11 am. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery immediately following the service on Monday.
