Theodore Kisha Obituary

Theodore (Ted) Kisha June 18, 1929-March 31, 2024 Theodore Kisha, known as Ted by some, “Mr. Kisha” by hundreds of McKinley and Timken graduates (1960-1995), and “Dad” and “Dido” by those that loved him the most, passed away peacefully on March 31, with family by his side after 94 years of a life blessed by God. Theodore is survived by his wife Anna, of 63 years, and his children and their spouses; Ted, Jr. and Elaine Kisha, Kathryn and Ken Wise, and Elena and Shawn Monahan, his grandchildren; Alexander, Anastasia, Shawn Jr., Stefan, and Samuel, whom he loved with his whole heart, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Theodore is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna, and 12 siblings; Mary, Michael, Peter, John, George, Joseph, Stephen, Andrew, Nick, Paul, Sam, and Alex. Theodore grew up in Wolf Run, Ohio as a farmer and a member of All Saints Orthodox Church, of which his parents were founding members. Wolf Run was always home to him, and where he met his bride (who was visiting from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada) at a wedding in 1959. After their wedding, the two settled in Canton, where Ted taught chemistry at “Old” McKinley and Timken High school for 35 years. He was a dedicated teacher that made learning fun, and will always be remembered for his quirky quotes, such as “Check, check, plus”, “Nothing happens until it happens, and then it really happens!” “Retreat, regroup, and charge again!”, passing out litmus paper for A+ work, and of course, dressing up as Wyatt Earp on the last day of school, complete with test tubes in his holsters. Aside from time with his family, which he embraced and cherished, Ted dedicated his life to the Orthodox Faith. He and Anna were members of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio since 1960. They both poured their hearts, hands, and souls into the parish life - prayerfully working as the parish president, the “candle man”, the all around worker because “it needs to be done” for God and His church. Ted attended nearly every service in the church, including feast days, until he was placed in hospice care. His was a life dedicated to the Lord and His Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Danielle from Helping Hands for her care and support to the family over the last 6 months and to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate care over the last month. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, April 4 from 5:00-7:00p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, with a Panakhida at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church (2027 18th St. NE) on Friday, April 5 at 10:00 am, officiated by Fr. Aaron Rutz. Calling Hours will be held at the church at 9:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Ted’s memory to Holy Assumption Orthodox Church. May Theodore’s memory be eternal. Vichnaya Pamyat!
