Janet Zakhem Obituary

Janet Zakhem age 76, passed away early Thursday, August 01, 2019. She was born in Arneh, Syria to the late Jirjos and Zenia (Saliba) Zakham. Janet was a true example of what Christ wants us to be. She had a smile that lit up the entire world. Anyone that met her saw how pure her heart was and how much love and compassion she had for her family and friends both far and near. She will be deeply missed by all who love her and whose lives she has touched. Her motherly spirit nurtured everyone she encountered. If she wasn’t outside gardening, you could find her inside cooking a big meal to make sure that everyone was fed. She was such a hard worker and self-less, giving everything of herself and expecting nothing in return. She was a woman of virtue who walked in the love of God. Janet is survived by her sister Adlet Zakham, her brother Shafik (Laila) Zakham, nieces and nephews; Vanetta (Benjamin) Mast and children Alexa and Marc, Philip (Kristen) Bechara and children Malia, Nadia and Amira, Mark Bechara, Caroline Zakham and children Nina, Mari and Xan, George (Xristina) Zakham and daughter Madisen, Joseph Zakham and children Alyssa and Lindsay. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am, Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin officiating and assisted by Rev. Fr. Aleksa Pavichevich. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church or St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.
