Dante E. Piccoli, age 89 of Canton, passed away February 27th. Born in New York City, NY to the late Luigi and Angelina (Perini) Piccoli, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Marie (Orsa) Piccoli and sister Tina Oriani. Dante was a 1950 graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York City, earning a degree in chemical engineering. He retired in 1989 from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he was the Chief Engineer of the Hose Technical Center. During his tenure with Goodyear his efforts helped lead to four patents. He was an Army Air Corp veteran serving in WW II and the Korean Conflict. A member of Christ the Servant Parish, Dante was a past president of the Ben V. Marconi Sons of Italy Lodge #1628, and a former trustee and orator for the Sons of Italy Grand Lodge State of Ohio. After retirement he became an artist, creating many works of art with oil paints. He is survived by his children; Dr. Louis Piccoli (Karen Kozlowski) of Pittsburgh, PA, Joan (Edward) Tomkowiak of Beach Park, IL, Carol (Mark) Cutler of Jackson Township, seven grandchildren; Catherine and Christopher Piccoli, Sarah (Adam) Greenfield, Beth (Andrew) Brodzeller, Matthew Tomkowiak, William and Lauren Cutler, great-granddaughter Paige Marie Brodzeller. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home where the Sons of Italy will have services at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 am at Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano, celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Christ the Servant Parish (1001 39th St. NW, Canton, OH 44709). The family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Baum and the staff of Bethany Nursing Home for the loving care given to Dante the past three years.
