Richard J. Battista age 64 of Canton, passed away Wednesday, December 27th at Aultman Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Canton to the late Joseph and Mary (Rossetti) Battista, he was a 1971 graduate of Louisville High School and an Air Force veteran. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, brother and sister. Richard loved coaching his son's little league baseball team, the Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes and golfing. He also enjoyed playing lead guitar in his friends garage band. He worked as a manager for the H.J. Heinz Company for 35 years and then for Diebold for another 6 years before finally retiring. Richard is survived by his children Betty (Eric) Walker, Joseph (Briena) Battista, five grandchildren; Krista and Blake Feller, Mitchell Metz, Joshua Walker, Hayden Battista, brother Dave (Nancy) Battista, sister Diane (Dwight) Tschantz, niece Diedra (Morris) Chaney, nephews Dan Tschantz, Benjamin (Chris) Battista, John (Tonya) Battista and their families. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 3 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home with Memorial services to follow at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at

Betsy...So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I met him at your house and he seemed like a nice man. My thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family.
