Obituary

Albert R. Manzella, 90, of Canton passed away Friday evening August 11 th . Born in Alliance, Ohio to the late Ralph and Maria (Susie) Manzella, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina (Hauser) Manzella, son Paul Manzella, brother Eugene (Joan) Manzella, and sisters Angeline (Tony) Pippi and Rose (Andrew) Bressi. After graduating from Timken High School in 1944, Al served in the Army during World War II. Following his military service he was employed by the East Ohio Gas Company and retired after 42 years of service. Al loved baseball and working with young baseball players, and coached for many years in the Canton Mitey Mites and Stark County Hot Stove Baseball Organizations. He not only coached but played fumbleball in his younger years, and after retirement played softball in the Akron Silver League. He was inducted into both the Stark County Fumbleball Hall of Fame and the Akron Silver League Softball Hall of Fame. Al is survived by his wife, Donna (Brestle) Manzella, children Michael (Mary) Manzella, Sharon (Brad) Price, granddaughter Marcie Bragg and great-granddaughter Ava Lee Bragg. There will be no calling hours and a private family service has been held. If desired, a donation to honor Al can be made to Wishes Can Happen, 1170 S Main Street, N Canton, OH 44720.
