Anastasia "Tasoula" (Gianakis) Nicholas, 89, of Canton joined our Lord on November 17, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 14, 1927 in Oinoussai, Greece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nikola and Eleni, two brothers, George and Kosti (Annie), and nephew Nick Gianakis. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Stefanos, loving children Michael (Cynthia) Nicholas and Sophia (Michael) Kazes, and her two wonderful granddaughters, Marissa and Anastasia, who gave her tremendous joy through the years. She is also survived by sister Eftichia Lemos, sister-in-law Irene Gianakis, countless nieces, nephews and friends all of whom she truly loved. At age 17, Anastasia immigrated to Ohio, where she married her husband and began her family, which gave her joy beyond measure. She loved to cook. One of her greatest pleasures was to make meals and share recipes with loved ones. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by family and friends she so adored. Anastasia was a member of Saint Paul and Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Churches, a member of Philoptochos, Senior Citizens, Oinoussian Society, and Agia Markella Chios Society. Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 20 th , 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Rossi Family Funeral Home (730 30 th St. NW, Canton, OH 44709) (Trisagion 7p.m.). Visitation continues Monday, November 21 st , 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church (251 25 th St. NW, Canton, OH); funeral service beginning 11:00 a.m. with Father Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Internment at Saint Theodosius Cemetery, 8200 Biddulph Road, Cleveland. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, Saint Haralambos Hellenic Dancers, or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, her favorite charity. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Bethany Nursing Home and Hospice for their wonderful care and support as well as Father Nick for his numerous visits, many prayers, and comforting words.
