Obituary

Angeline “Angie” Klidos Anastas, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by three generations of her loving family, which she guided and loved for decades. Her strength, passion, and ability to love were unmatched. Her epic story began in Canton in 1932, where she was born to Maria (Sotirakis) and Eugenios Klidoniaris along with three siblings, Harry, Bill, and Ann. She was preceded in death by her brothers and is survived by her sister Ann and her family, Eugene, Robin, Peter, and Kate. Her story continued in Samos, Greece during World War II where Angie, along with her siblings and mother, were trapped during the war as her father struggled to bring them home. Their bond as a family was forever strong.

Upon her return to Canton, she lost her father at the age of 18 but soon thereafter she helped to send her brothers to college. They become esteemed professionals. And then Angie married the love of her life Basil Anastas. They created a large family, including Olga (Anastas) Kaye and her spouse Frankie Kaye III, and her children Kaitlin and Frankie Joe IV; Mary Ann (Anastas) Rundo and her spouse Andy, and their children Michael and Alissa; Rena (Anastas) Macrides and her spouse Mark, and their children Matthew and Marisa; and Louis Gregory Anastas and his spouse Nicole, and their two daughters Sophie and Isabel.

Angie’s story of love, sacrifice, joy, and faith will be expanded upon further at a later date. Her dedication to her family, at least 6 generations total, both before and after her own is unmatched. She was completely committed to her church, both spiritually and culturally, as well as her country where she believed deeply in compassion, justice, and democracy.

Her love and her vigor will be missed. But her legacy lives on, above all, in her aforementioned four children, their four spouses, their eight children (her grandchildren) plus a recent spouse Charley, her many wonderful nieces and nephews from Canton to Columbus to Athens, and Samos – Melissa, Jennifer, Eugene, Sam, Larry, who preceded her in death, as well as Andreas, Lazaro, Niko, and Mara and her loving sister-in-law Sofia Bafaloukos in Glyfada and her cousins Vasili & Litsa in Samos. And her three great grandchildren, who were arguably the greatest joy of all, Malia, Juliana, and Angie the II. May her memory be eternal, and a blessing.

Her funeral services will be held on Monday, February 16 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church – her second home – at 4705 Fairhaven Avenue in Canton. Calling hours are from 10am to 11am, with the Service taking place at 11am. It will also be broadcast on HTGOC’s Facebook page.

The Makaria luncheon at the church hall will follow interment at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the HTGOC Food Pantry Fund can be made. The Angie + Basil Anastas Scholarship will continue to support education that’s vital to our future. Angie was love! There’s no greater force on Earth.
