(Poniros) Pirovolos

ANNA S. PIROVOLOS age 87 of Canton, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, February 4, 2013. She was born on December 27, 1925 in Kardamyla, Chios, Greece to the late Nicholas and Chrysanthe Poniros. She immigrated to this country in 1948. Anna and her husband, the late Steve Pirovolos, were married for 62 years. Anna was also preceded in death by her beloved eldest daughter Maria Pirovolos Makrinos. Anna is survived by her son Dean (Gus) (Demetra) Pirovolos of Canton; her daughter Presvytera Goldie (Rev. Fr. James) Doukas of Bay Village, and son-in-law Adam Makrinos of Tenafly, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Anna (Sean) Callahan, Andrea(John) Fikaris, Stephanie (Theo) Zacharatos, Stephen, Nicholas and Michael Pirovolos, Demetria (Michael) Greenwood, Presvytera Dianna (Rev. Fr. Demetrios Kazakis) and four great-grandchildren. Anna always put her family and church above all else. She was a member of both St. Haralambos and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Churches. She was a member and past president of St. Haralambos Philoptochos Society. She was also a member and past president of Aghia Markella Chios Society. She was active in the St. Haralambos Choir and a member of the St. Haralambos Silver Liners. Services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with the Rev. Protopresbyter George S. Callos, Chancellor of The Metropolis, Presiding, representing His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, with Rev. Dr. Nicholas Gamvas, pastor, Rev. Fr. James Doukas, Rev. Fr. Demetrios Kazakis, and other area clergy co-officiating. Friends may call Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5-8 P.M. at Rossi Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A Trisagion Prayer Service will held on Thursday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Haralambos Building Fund. May God rest her soul .
