Obituary

Anne L. Maccora, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and principal entered the Kingdom of Heaven June 28 th , 2014. She touched many hearts along her journey. All who were fortunate to be a part of her life marveled at her inner strength and deep convictions. Born Anne Laura Schiavone October 20, 1928 to Pat & Adele Schiavone, she graduated Timken Vocational High School in 1946. During the post-war era, she worked at Stark Dry Goods & Parisian Department Store before finding her true vocation: education. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph's parochial school for more than thirty years, and then as Principal for the last three before retiring in 1993. It broke her heart when 'her' school closed this year. While teaching and raising a family, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Reading from Kent State University. Always a woman of tireless effort, Anne also worked the tennis desk at Hall of Fame Fitness Center during the early Nineties and at Craig Personal Jewelers for 15 years after retiring from education. She loved to cook, play cards and read books, though her true joy was following her grandchildren cheer, act, play music & sports: softball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and track. An active member of St. Joseph's Church, Anne proudly participated as Eucharist Minister, Girl Scout Leader, and member of the Rosary Alter Society, Parish Planning Committee, and Festival Committee.

Preceded in death by her parents; Brother Joseph Schiavone; Brother Richard Schiavone, DDS. Survived by her children Jodene Brendle; James Maccora (Jean) of San Jose, CA; Joellen Esber (Mark), Jeff Maccora (Deborah); grandchildren Sloane Brendle; Mark Maccora of Los Angeles, CA; Timmi Jo Brendle (Ken Cooper) of Findlay, OH; Jeff Maccora of Los Angeles, CA; Matthew Esber of Columbus, OH; Christopher Esber of Columbus, OH; Jonathan Esber, Lisa Maccora, Jimmy Maccora; and great-granddaughter Emma Cooper. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Frances Schiavone and Jane Schiavone and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8PM at Rossi's Funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph's Church Wednesday morning at 10 am concelebrated by Monsignor Frank A. Carfagna, Monsignor David Rhodes and Rev. Fr. Jim Korda. The family would like to thank Dr. Kelly, the dialysis team at Aultman Dialysis Center, the staff at Sterling House of Canton for their compassionate caregiving and our special home caregivers, Kathy Watterson and her niece Sarah Shaffer. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Anne's name may be made to Canton Ex-Newsboys or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
