"Footer" Lanza
July 20, 1931 – October 19, 2015
Anthony J. "Footer" Lanza, age 84 of Canton, passed away Monday morning. Born in Canton to the late James and Angelina (Coco) Lanza, he was a 1949 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tony was retired from the Canton City Police Department with 25 years of service, first as a patrolman and later as a juvenile detective. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Parish and Christ the Servant Parish, V.F.W. Post #3747 and the F.O.P. Tony was preceded in death by his wife Ruth (Daily) Lanza and brother Santa Lanza. He is survived by his children; Stephen M., Greg S., Robert J., Cathi J., Lori A., grandchildren; Angelina, Lauren, Giuliana, Samantha, Danielle, Mason, brother Joseph Lanza, sister Connie Wooldridge and sister-in-law Maria Lanza. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home where FOP services will be held at 4:45 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am at Christ the Servant Parish with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
