ANTHONY "TONY" LOPEZ, age 85 of Canton, passed away Friday evening. Born in Canton to the late Crisanto and Primitiva (Hervas) Lopez, he was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law Josephine and Paul Shinkle, sister-in-law Tina Lopez, brothers-in-law George Scrimanger and Bob Burns. A 1947 graduate of Canton McKinley High School, Tony also attended Bowling Green University. He retired in 1983 after 33 years of service with Republic Steel. Tony was involved with Plain Township Hot Stove Youth Baseball League for 20 years. He loved gardening, the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed golf. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Alice (Fernandez) Lopez, children Anthony Jr. (Patti) Lopez of Charlotte, NC, Linda (Scott) Werner of Downington, PA, Mary Babin of Canton, Chris (Susan) Lopez of Broadview Heights, 11 grandchildren; Samantha, Anthony and Marissa Lopez, Scotty, Amber and Christie Werner, Katlin (Jack) Vorndran, Megan, Christopher, Amanda and Morgan Lopez, sister Mary Burns, special cousin Bea Collado both of Canton, brothers-in-law Floyd (Pat) Fernandez of Louisville, Manuel Lopez of Cincinnati, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 9 to 10am. Funeral services will follow at 10am Tuesday with Rev. Fr. Edward Stafford officiating. Interment will be in Northlawn Cemetery.
