Anthony “Tony” M. Alessandro, age 94 of Canton, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026 in his home of natural causes sounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 22, 1931 to the late Joseph and Carolina (Forasseta) Alessandro in Omaha, Nebraska.
Anthony proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the bricklaying trade and proud member of the Bricklayers Union, where he spent many years helping build homes, businesses, and landmarks throughout Stark County. He was respected for his strong work ethic and skilled craftmanship, and commitment to excellence.
He especially enjoyed spending winters in Bonita Springs, Florida where he and his wife Maria created many cherished memories with family and friends. Above all, Anthony was devoted to his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his wife of 71 years, his children, grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife Maria (Porco) Alessandro; daughters Betty (Tom) Thompson and Sandra (Anthony) Giannini; son Michael (Kelly) Alessandro; grandchildren Andrea (Kris) Gerdeman of Toledo, Jason (Melissa) Giannini of North Canton, Jeff (Kristi) Alessandro of New Port Richey, Florida, Ashley Giannini-Gates of Norman, Oklahoma, Kyle (Jessica) Alessandro of Yuma, Arizona, and Annamarie (Ray) Alessandro of Canton, and 15 great grandchildren; sister Mary Cugino; and sister-in-law Josephine Alessandro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Angie Spitale and brothers Carl and Frank Alessandro; and brother-in-law Jim Cugino.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Daniel Finnerty. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in Tony’s memory to Little Flower Catholic Parish.
The Alessandro family extends their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers of Cornerstone HealthCare for their compassionate care and support. A special thank you is also extended to Meggin for kindness, dedication and friendship she provided to Tony and his family.
