Anthony Paul “Tony” Gialluca II, born October 3, 1948, will be remembered as a beloved Son, Father, Brother, Husband, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. Tony passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026 surrounded by love.
Tony was a born entertainer. He grew up playing accordion as a child, tuba in marching band, and while still in high school formed his band “the Shantells” as lead singer and keyboard player. Tony graduated as a member of Canton Central Catholic HS class of ‘66. After attending Kent State University, he enlisted in the Air Force jumpstarting his broadcast career overseas on Armed Forces Radio while achieving the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning home from Korea he further developed his skill as a DJ/on air personality for WJER, DJ for the Galaxy Disco, and later as announcer on WHBC radio in Canton. For many years his weekends were filled playing packed dance halls with his band the Shantells. He enjoyed a long and illustrious career producing award winning local radio & tv commercials at Wern Rausche & Locke Advertising. As a local celebrity on the airwaves for many years, his voice was unmistakable even when playing different characters. He was an articulate storyteller/script writer, creative voice talent, inspiring band leader, and dynamic public speaker. His greatest passions included hiking out west, movies, nostalgia, reading books, bicycling, and spending time with family.
Preceded in death by his parents Anthony “Fear” and Jennie Gialluca. Survived by his loving wife Barb, brother Rick and his wife Marion, daughter Angela and her partner Vinny, son Tony III and his wife Toby, and grandchildren: Zach, Alex, Bella, and Max.
Family and friends will be received on July 11, 2026 from 10:30am – 12:00pm with a Celebration of Life ceremony to immediately follow at Rossi Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
