Obituary

"It's more blessed to give then receive."  Acts 20:35

Antonio Pupo, age 90 of Canton, born in Isca Sul' Ionio, Province of Calabria Italy, passed away February 6, 2025. He was surrounded by his devoted family when his beautiful soul was called home to rest. Antonio was a strong man and hard worker. He retired from Sugardale Foods in 1994, after 40 years of dedicated employment. He was a Member of the Knights of Roman Circle and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2223 for over 40 Years.

He was cared for by his angelic wife, Rosina Pupo, for 64 years of marriage. He was a loyal father and papa to his oldest son and daughter-in-law Tony and Robin Pupo of North Canton, Ohio, and their three children, Martino (Sarah) of North Canton, Ohio, Vincent (Morgan), and Katrina both of Canton, Ohio; and to his daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Sean Brookes of Canton, Ohio, and their three children, Antonella and Dominique both of Canton, Ohio, and Ron of Columbus, Ohio. Antonio is also survived by sisters-in-law Gloria Pupo of Kulpmont, Concetta Pittello of Milano, Italy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph and Connie Pittello of North Canton, Ohio; as well as many caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vito and Elisabetta (Miriello) Pupo; brothers Frank Pupo and Charlie (Carol) Vinci; and two sisters Genoeffa (Angelo) Sinopoli, Nancy (Luigi) Gidaro; two nephews Saverio Sinopoli and Rosario Sinopoli; niece Sabine Sinopoli; and brother-in-law Giuseppe Pittello.

Antonio knew it was more blessed to give then to receive. His generosity knew no bounds, and would help anyone. Antonio truly was one of a kind. You just don't meet people like him anymore. He was a man of his word and a very hard worker. He spoke readily and directly from his big heart. He enjoyed talking, telling stories, making wine, and planting a large garden of many vegetables, just to give away.

His wife and family were the center of his world. Antonio has been a major presence in the lives of his beloved children and grandchildren. He especially admired all the accomplishments of his son, daughter, daughter-in-law, don-in-law and grandchildren. He will always be treasured forever in our hearts, and will miss him every day. We love and adore you.

Rest in Peace, Bello Marito, Padre, Papa, Zio, Cognato, Cugino and Amico.

A special thanks to the staff of Aultman Hospital, Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center, and his many physicians, all of whom provided support and invaluable care to our Antonio.
