Aristides "Art" Amentas 1939 – 2024

Aristides "Art" Amentas, 85, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, surrounded by family. Born in Oinousses, Chios, Greece, to the late George and Maria (née Tsakos), he immigrated to the United States in 1955, proudly serving his adopted country in the U.S. Army before building a career at The Timken Company.

Art was a devoted husband to Stacia (née Stavrakis) for 56 years, loving father to John (Biljana) and Jim (Demetria), and cherished grandfather to Alexandria, Maximos, and Anthony. He was brother to Aspasia "Barbara" Morakis and his late brothers John and Nick Amentas, and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews across the United States and Greece.

His quiet kindness, deep faith, and pride in his Greek heritage touched many lives. His legacy of love, compassion, and selfless generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Monday, December 16, from 10 to 11 am. Funeral services immediately following at 11 am., with the Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Youth and Education.
