Arlene (Chiavaroli) Landes, age 85, of Canton, died peacefully Thursday, December 31, 2015. Arlene was raised and lived her life in Canton, Ohio. She attended St. Anthony's Elementary School and graduated from Mount Marie Academy (Central Catholic) in 1948. She was a deeply religious person and received great comfort from her Catholic faith. She was an active member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, serving in various ministries and outreach programs. Arlene will be remembered for her incredible energy and zest for life. She spent her career working full-time at the Hoover Company, while maintaining a household and driving her five children to numerous school activities and sporting events. Yet, she always made time for her friends and deeply cherished these relationships. Her boundless energy enabled her to frequently visit family, join friends for lunch and dinner, attend senior aerobics, play cards, and experience new adventures on senior bus trips. First and foremost was her love of family. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, bothers, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles were always welcomed with open arms, a good meal, great conversation and some homemade cookies. The mutual joy is something we will all treasure for eternity. Arlene was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Jack Landes, as well as her parents, Dan and Anna Chiavaroli and her brother Eugene Chiavaroli. She is survived by five loving children, William Landes and his wife Michele of Southborough, MA, Joyce Massengill and her husband Phillip of Suffolk, VA, Ann Marie Braddock and her husband Don of Gibbsboro, NJ, John Landes and his wife Crystal of Lewisville, TX and Joseph Landes and his wife Aimee of Basking Ridge, NJ. Arlene is also survived by her eleven grandchildren: Nathan, Aaron, Ryan, Taylor Landes, and Heather (Landes) McLeod, Phillip and Melissa Massengill, Benjamin and Amy Braddock, Emma and Madeline Landes, great grandchild Landon Massengill, and her brothers Lawrence Chiavaroli and his wife Joanna, Joseph Chiavaroli and his wife Donna, and Art Chiavaroli and his wife June. Arlene wanted to share her thoughts with you, "To my family, my good friends, the Hope Ministry at St Michael's, the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Sociable Seniors, Trirosis Women's Club and my aerobics class, thank you for all your prayers, cards, phone calls and warm thoughts. Celebrate my life with my family. It was a good life!" Friends may visit with the family Friday, January 8 at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, 730 30 ^th St. in Canton from 5 to 7pm. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 9 at 10am at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Canton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 3469 Lincoln Way E, Massillon, OH. Arlene requested that donations be made to St Michael the Archangel Building Fund, or, if you prefer, a cancer charity of your choice.
