(Kallos) Mizeres
November 20, 1939 – January 19, 2019
Arlene K. Mizeres. Arlene passed away peacefully surrounded by the Holy Spirit on January 19, 2019 at the age of 79. Arlene was born in Canton in 1939 to the late Anthony and Christine Kallos. She was preceded in death by husband Peter, sister Evelyn Aman, and brother Emanuel Kallos. Arlene graduated from McKinley High School, received her B.S. Degree from Bowling Green State University, and a Master's Degree from Kent State University. She was a retired educator from Canton City Schools, with over 35 years of service.
Arlene is survived by her sons Peter (Colleen) of Cleveland, and Stephen (Melanie) of Cincinnati; grandchildren Kit, Tyler, Tanner, Noah, Colby, and Jonah; and sister Mary Kallos. She is also survived by niece Kristen (Patrick) DeChellis; nephews James Aman, Tony Aman; many other nieces and nephews; and Godchild Sophia Nixdorf.
Arlene was an avid walker, and loved working out with her special friends at the North Canton YMCA; she developed a very special bond with her exercise partners. She also had a great neighborhood, filled with very kind and loving friends. She loved knitting and doing shows all throughout Ohio with her husband Peter. Arlene also loved to cook her special Greek recipes. Her six grandchildren energized her and held a very special place in her heart. She was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church for many years, and was also a Greek Orthodox Youth Association (GOYA) leader for several years back in the 1980's. Arlene volunteered her time to many causes throughout Canton.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 24 th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, with Trisagion Services to begin at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 25th at 11 a.m. at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church.
