Arthur J. "Art" Spitale age 78 of New Philadelphia, OH, passed away early Wednesday morning. Born in Canton to the late Coni and Mary (Repace) Spitale, he was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and the University of Akron. Art fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning his Bachelor's Degree at a later age and becoming a substitute teacher. He was an Army veteran. He is survived by his children Tony Spitale of Massillon, Jeanette (Steve) Brown of Magnolia, Andrea (Robbie) Balizet, Kathy Spitale both of Massillon, grandchildren Jacob (Lizzie), Kailee, Emily, Alexis, Aubrey, Karly, Mallory, Nathan, great grandson Garrett, sisters Judy Esway Cugino (Gary Cugino), Margaret Chaney, Mary Swain, and brother Mike Spitale. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:30 am at St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Massillon with the Very Rev. Canon Matthew Mankowski celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
