Obituary

Audree Lou Adams, age 89 of Canton, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. She was born in Canton, Ohio on August 27, 1929 to the late Louella and Clark Smith. Audree was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio.

Audree was a gentle, dignified woman who took on what life gave her with courage.

She was widowed at a young age. She raised her six children and worked in various fields, including retail, window design and customer service. To make ends meet, Audree created beautiful floral arrangements and sold them at local gift shops.

One special day Audree was working at the College Bowl Lanes and was introduced to Theodore Adams by her brother Fred. The rest is history. They were married for 34 years before her passing. Ted taught her to dance and they could often be found dancing to the sounds of the Jack Halkides Orchestra. Together they traveled to Arizona, Florida, Texas and California and enjoyed life. In later years, you would often find them at the VFW Post 3747 in the company of her cousin Wade Hutt, his wife Frannie and special friends.

Audree was a 1947 graduate of Timken Vocational High School . Throughout the years Audree and Ted were both very active with the alumni association. They recently attended their 71st high school reunion at Tim's Tavern in Canton. Audree was always stylishly dressed, and would never go out of the house without her lipstick. She taught her children to always make a good impression. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. When she was complimented, which was often, she always blushed. Audree had a great sense of humor and embraced life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clark and Louella Smith, and her step- mother Betty Smith. She also endured the loss of her first husband, William Bartko, Sr., two sons Dale and Marc Ryser, stepdaughter Becky Labowitz, and brothers Danny and Fred Smith.

Audree is survived by her loving husband Ted Adams; children Sharon Mikulka, and husband John, Bill Bartko and wife Robyn, Linda Sue Wichman and husband Mark, and Nancy, wife of the late Paul Wancour. She cherished her grandchildren: Melissa Shively and husband Mike, Danny Ryser and wife Meredith, Tayler Jones and husband Will, Ryan Villegas, and Nicholas Labowitz. Audree has three adorable great-grandchildren: Tyler Shively, and James and Rose Ryser. She is also survived by her brother, Elmer Smith and his wife Margaret.

The family would like to thank Dr. James Johns and his team at Little Flower Family Practice for their exceptional care. In addition, Robin Herndon and Connie Laliberte attended to Audree with love and kindness throughout her illness.

Family and friends will be received at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday from 12 noon to 1p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. in the church, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Internment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
