IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara S.
(Bair) Kolp
August 4, 1949 – November 19, 2024
Barbara Susan Kolp of North Canton passed away peacefully at home on November 19, 2024 at the age of 75 after a long journey with myelofibrosis. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her loss is deeply felt by her family and all those that knew and loved her.
Barb was born August 4,1949 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents Robert and Marjorie Bair. She was always a creative spirit with a talent for art and music. She graduated from Ohio University in 1971 with degrees in art and special education. Barb was a dedicated special ed teacher for many years before deciding to raise her children full time, though she returned to teaching later and ultimately retired from Jackson Township schools. In addition to family, Barb's other love was sailing. She and her husband enjoyed many years sailing the waves of Lake Erie and spending time with their close friends at Sandusky Harbor marina.
Barb is lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Edward Kolp and children Christine Miller and her husband Dan, Steve Kolp and his wife Lisa, Brian Kolp and his wife Kathy, along with her seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lori Spillman and her husband Kirk, and brother John Bair and his wife Kathy, as well as several nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply and cherish every moment they shared with her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Jim Bair.
Barb's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her kindness, strength and courage will be sorely missed but never forgotten and will live on for generations.
A memorial service will take place on December 7, 2024 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton. A reception will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
