Betty Lee Powe

Betty Lee Powe, age 86 of Canton Ohio passed away early Wednesday morning January 22, 2025. She was born on December 29, 1938 in Clover, SC and was the first child of Robert and Leola McNeil Moss. Betty graduated from Reid High School in Belmont North Carolina in 1956. After graduation she attended cosmetology school in Charlotte, North Carolina and became a licensed cosmetologist. She relocated to Canton, Ohio to live with her Aunt Pauline and Uncle Cecil Meeks and eventually met and married Frederick Douglas Powe Sr., the love of her life for the past 62 years. Betty had two loves in her life; one was Fred and the other was cooking.

In her early years, Betty liked to sew and would hem and repair clothes for others. Betty worked at Ecko Products in Canton for over 20 years followed by various jobs in retail. During retirement, she was an avid reader and enjoyed feeding the various birds that would visit her birdhouse. Betty loved to cook and she would always be found in the kitchen trying out a new recipe and making cakes, pies or a meal for friends and family.

Betty is proceeded in death by her mother and father, Robert and Leola Moss, and her brother Rev Robert S Moss (Helen) . She is survived by her husband Frederick D. Powe Sr., her children, Frederick D. Powe Jr. (Sherri), and Michael A. Powe (Lisa-Ann) and her grandchildren, Erika B. Powe, Michelle N. Powe and Frederick "Rich" D. Powe, III. She is also survived by her siblings Mattie Moss, Alfred Moss (Robin), Shirley Moss Holiness (Clifton), Richard Moss, Samuel Moss (Ann) and Curtis Moss (Billie) and a whole host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Sherrick Road Church of God, with services to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.rossifuneralhomeinc.com.
