"Katie" (Morelli) Degiralomo

Catherine "Katie" A. (Morelli) DeGiralomo, age 87 of North Canton, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. Born in Canton to the late Paul and Carmela (Bruno) Morelli, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer DeGiralomo in 2014 and a brother Frank Morelli. Katie attended Timken Vocational High School. She lived most of her life in Canton with several years living in Venice, California where she was employed at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company as and Executive Assistant. In Canton she worked at the Bliss Company, General Tire and retired from Ohio Power in the late 1980's. IN her early 60's she began a modeling career and was featured in many Fashion Shows for the mature woman in Akron, Cleveland and Cincinnati. Even though Katie did not have children of her own she considered her nieces and nephews her kids! She was loving, generous and the most well-dressed gal in town! She is survived by her sisters Anna Garrini of North Canton, Rose (Dan) Casciato of New Castle, PA, sisters-in-law Zella Morelli and Vickie Stenger, nieces Joan Garrini Streck (Richard) of Columbus, OH, Jean Garrini Hoover (James) of Canton, Linda Garrini Fidelholtz (Michael) of West Bloomfield, MI, Lou Ann Cerreta (Jerry) of Uniontown, OH and many other nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 10 to 11 am at Little Flower Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00, Rev. Fr. Leo Wehrlin celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Home Foundation. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful and compassionate nurses and caregivers at St. Luke Lutheran Home and Aultman Hospice nurses, aids and doctors.
