Charles W. Carter, age 90 of Canton, passed peacefully Friday, March 8, 2024 at his residence. A beloved soul who journeyed through life with grace and strength, Chuck's journey began on May 12, 1933 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, as he was welcomed into the world by his parents, the late Marvin and Amelia (Brazen) Carter; he is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Claudia Marie, daughter Kathryn Renner, grandson Eric Blankenship brothers H.B. and Lonnie Carter. He attended Canton Lincoln High School, after which he spent 4 yrs. in the US Navy on the USS Gyatt DD712, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Chuck was a member of Christ the Servant Parish, and the Canton McKinley Rifle and Gun Club. After his military service, Charles returned to Canton, Ohio where he became the owner of Barrier Roofing for many years. He enjoyed hunting and took many hunting trips over the years. He is survived by his loving family, Wife of 28 years Barbara Ann (O'Connor) Carter, Children Candace (Tony) Boyd, Chod W. (Amy) Carter, Christopher (Sue) Carter, James E. (Dixie) Dixon lll, Debra Blankenship, Christine (Doug) Klimes, son-in-law Jim Renner, brother-in-law Daniel O'Connor, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 am at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at Christ the Servant Parish at 12 noon. Entombment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make memorial donations in his honor to the Salvation Army of Canton, or an organization of your choice.
