Charles (Luciano) Joseph Marchino. Born July 19, 1923 in Alliance Community Hospital. Charles graduated from Malvern High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corp, 611th AAF Base Unit at Patterson Field, OH. He served in WWII in Northern France - Rhineland as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Specialist. He was Honorably discharged as a Corporal with an American Theater Ribbon, European-American-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/2 Bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award and WWII Victory Medal, Carbine Marksman. After the war, Charles attended Kent State University and studied engineering. An avid dancer, Charles met his wife, Mary Lattavo, at the Meyers Lake Ballroom under the light of the moon. They were married January 1948 and have four children, Grace Mary (Canton), Anthony (El Paso,TX), Mark (Malvern) and Joan (Atlanta, GA who is married to Buckeye Basketball Star Jim Ellinghausen, who played during the Eldon Miller era). Charles also has nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Charles was an accomplished amateur golfer. Playing regularly at Tam O'Shanter, Bob O Link, Edgewood and in later years, Meadowlake. Charles retired his golfing activities at the age of 91 with a handicap less than his age and a handful (five) of hole in ones. Charles was a member of the North Canton Elks for several years, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Florida "Snowbird" for greater than 10 years. Charles is preceded in death by his wife Mary (Lattavo), sisters, Rose Richardson, Grace Babaryk and Mary Peloso. Charles is survived by all of his children. Visitation will be held at Christ the Savior Parish (Our Lady of Peace), 833 39th St NW, Monday April 30th from 10 to 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin in the church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St John's Cemetery, with Military Honors.
