CHARLES MARLING

Charles Marling, age 85, died peacefully at home, Sunday, December 29, 2013 after a long illness. He is survived by his ever faithful wife, Bella (Boscia) Marling, of 58 years, his son Michael and much loved grandson Anthony Marling. "Chuck", as he was known to all was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a friend to many and was a real gentleman. During World War II he served in the Merchant Marines and the Army. He retired from Republic Steel after 37 years. For more than 60 years he was a loyal booster and supporter of the McKinley High School Bulldogs. He had a special relationship with Coach Bup Rearick and the many athletes whom he sponsored. He was a loyal fan of Ohio State, Notre Dame, and the Browns. His biggest sports idol was Rocky Marciano. He had the honor of meeting his several times. He possessed an extensive collection of memorabilia devoted solely to Rocky. He enjoyed polka dancing and never missed the Polka Hour on the radio. He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and John Castillow and his four brothers-in-law with whom he was very close; Leonard, Nick, Joe and Albert Boscia. The family wishes to thank Linda Patterson, Joe and Dolly Rea, Mary Weaver, Jim and Jo-Jo Schiavone, and Marie Byington for their countless favors and visits. Special thanks to Dr. Gregory Haban, Aultman Hospice Care support staff and Alan Dunnell for all your care and concern. You all helped lighten the burden. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:30 am in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Donald King officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
