Christina J. Kerchner (Zimmerman), passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born on October 29, 1943. A 1961 graduate of Perry High School, she completed her nursing degree in 1962. In 1963, she married Richard "Skip" Catalano, and together they had two children.
Christina later became a successful business owner, opening and operating a women's clothing boutique, Compliments of Chris, first located in a small shop on Cleveland Avenue in North Canton. She was actively involved in numerous community fashion shows, including the Pro Football Hall of Fame fashion show and court, and served on the Walsh University Women's Committee.
In 1984, she married John "Jack" Kerchner. Together, they enjoyed traveling the world and spending time socializing with friends. Following her retirement from the clothing industry, Christina and Jack relocated full-time to Fiddler's Creek in Naples, Florida. While there, she worked part-time at the Naples Historic Palm Cottage, and she and Jack were active members of St. Peter the Apostle Church. They enjoyed life to the fullest until Jack's death in 2010.
In 2018, Christina married Louis Kovacs, and the two enjoyed their time together in the Florida sunshine. More recently, Christina resided in the memory care unit at the Inn at Belden Village, where she received care while living with Alzheimer's disease.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Schiefferle of Powell, Ohio; her son, Tim Catalano (Jeanne) of Williamstown, West Virginia; her husband, Louis Kovacs of Canton; her sister, Judy Logan of Canton; and her grandchildren, Gavin Schiefferle of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Graham Schiefferle of Fort Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Noreen Zimmerman; her younger brother, Erich Zimmerman; her half-sister, Rosemary Namy; and her beloved Aunt Virginia Williams.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Inn at Belden Village and SouthernCare Hospice for their compassionate care. Arrangements are being handled by the Rossi Family Funeral Home in Canton. Services will be private.
