IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine M.
Riley
February 5, 1926 – February 6, 2021
Christine Mildred Riley passed away February 6, 2021 peacefully surrounded by family. Born February 5, 1926 to David & Gertrude Robinson in McKeesport, Pa.
She graduated from McKeesport High School on D-Day. Following graduation, Christine inspected 90 mm and 240 mm bombshells at the local war plant. She graduated from Leland Powers School of Theatre and Radio in Boston, MA. She then worked at WMCK Radio, McKeesport, PA, where she wrote and produced 4 radio programs.
Married Owen E. Riley on August 26th, 1950 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in McKeesport, PA. They had 4 children, Linda (David) Riley Sandor, Owen H. (Mary Jo), Kenneth, James (Colleen).
Owen and Christine enjoyed many years traveling across the country and to many foreign places. Christine was very active in the community, volunteering at House of Loreto, Mercy Medical Center Lifeshare Blood Donor Room, St Paul's Mercy Medical Center Clinic, Canton Community Christmas Program, Habitat for Humanity and Northeast Corridor Farmer's Market. She was active in AARP 5190, Eagles REAC, HRNA Neighborhood Association, Mercy Medical Center Cancer Support Group and Stark County Friends of Library.
She owned and operated Riley Wedding Service for over 20 years. Christine enjoyed gardening, needlework, reading, traveling and photography. Christine's love and compassion for others led her to donate 17 gallons of blood. Family, friends and God's nature were very important to her, especially flowers, oceans, waterfalls, clouds, blue skies, trees and everything her eyes could see and her ears could hear.
She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church Canton and Our Lady of Peace, where she was a Eucharistic minister.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and soulmate Owen E. Riley, her sisters, Jennie and Georgia and countless other family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her sister Eddythe Ellis, and by her four children, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Her last words to her children each night were "good night, we love you, God loves you too"; we now say the same to her.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 9th at the Rossi Family Funeral Home, Canton from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be February 10th at Our Lady of Peace (Christ the Servant Parish) at Noon.
