CHRISTOPHER F. WITTEL, age 43 of Canton, passed away Tuesday evening after an extended illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Dr. Ronald A. Wittel, Sr. and Kathleen M. (Maddux) Wittel. Christopher was a graduate of Canton Central Catholic High School where he played football and track. He received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama where he was part of the National Championship football team. He received his Masters in Engineering from the University of Akron where he helped design the winning formula car. His last place of employment was with Goodyear in Akron. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, and a charter member of the St. Michael Knights of Columbus. Christopher loved Tae Kwon Do, sculpting, painting, Star Wars, and football. He is survived by his mother Kathleen M. Wittel, brothers Shannon-Theodore Wittel, Ronald A. Wittel, Jr., sister Kimberlee C. Wittel, his nieces Arianna Magnolia and Aria Josephina, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father Dr. Ronald A. Wittel, Sr. Christopher stated in the past, "Even in the times I am not there physically, know that I am always there." Family and friends will be received on Monday from 9 to 11 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 am, Rev. Fr. Donald King celebrant. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
