Claire M. Fernandez

Age 73 of Canton, passed away suddenly Monday, July 22, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. Claire was born October 5, 1939, to Acer and Margaret Fernandez. Claire was a lifelong teacher devoted to her students, family, and friends. Her love and generosity towards her family and friends knew no limits. Her life of service began with her teaching career in 1958 with Cleveland's Catholic School system. That career spanned over 50 years, serving thousands of students as an instructor, guidance counselor, and tutor. Currently, she was employed with Perry LSD. She was a published author with several books in the library of congress. And, for many years, she offered a traveling lecturer series for teacher development. She really enjoyed meeting new faces, while working alongside her mother, for Ed's auction service over many of the last 30 years. She was a licensed auto dealer, amateur weather forecaster, button maker, gardener, seamstress, and most importantly, a believer in Jesus Christ! Claire is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by siblings Edward P. Fernandez (fiancée Lindsey), Sr. Mary Josephe Fernandez, SND, Richard R. Fernandez (Tari), and Joseph M. Fernandez (Diane), many nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, from 5:00-8:00pm at Rossi Funeral Home and Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 9:00-10:00am at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Robert Lanterman officiating. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pregnancy Support Center, 4500 22 ^nd Street NW, Canton, OH 44708.
