Clyde V. Sickle, Jr., age 73 of Canton, passed away Sunday after a brief illness. Born in Alliance to the late Clyde Vernon Sr. and Roselyn Marie (Murphy) Sickle, he was preceded in death by his step-son James Theodore. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish where he was a greeter for Sunday masses. Clyde served in the Army for six years as a military policeman in France. He worked in management for serveral companies and retired from PCC after 25 years of service. He was active in the Canton Elks Lodge #68 for many years and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post #44. After retirement, Clyde volunteered for 5 years at Aultman Hospital before being hired as a nurse's aid. He worked as a nurse's aid for 10 years, a job he truly loved. He was often remembered and thanked for the compassion and care he gave to his patients. For twenty years he visited hospitals and nursing homes as Frosty the Snowman and the Easter Bunny. He distributed stuffed animals to children and various gifts to nursing home residents. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Rina (Aquino) Sickle, children; Joseph (Lynn) Sickle of Finley, OH, Dr. David (Janice) Sickle of TN, Nancy (Matthew) Kaiser of Avon, OH, step-children; Melissa (Bruce) Smith, Joseph (Denise) Gotchall all of Canton, Ted (Patsy) Theodore of Carrollton, seven grandchildren; Becky Daugherty,Eric Sickle, Edward, Elise, and Michael Sickle, Ellen and Maggie Kaiser, five step-grandchildren; Jeremy (Mary Ellen) Smith, Joshua (Victoria) Smith, Jessica (Lucas) Boylan, Isaac Gotchall, Matthew Preusser, five great-grandchildren, sisters Cora (Kern) VanDorsten of Alliance, Patsy (Ken) Carver of Kennsington, OH. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish with Rev. Fr. Donald King, celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
