IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Concetta Ann
(Rocci) Bitzel
November 11, 1929 – March 16, 2018
Concetta (Connie) Ann (Rocci) Bitzel, age 88 of Canton, passed away peacefully on Friday March 16, 2018. Connie was born in Canton on November 26, 1929 to the late Orazio and Nazarena (Tucci) Rocci. She was a 1947 graduate of McKinley High School and retired from Krogers in 1999, a member of the meat cutters union. She also worked at Carms and Fishers Foods. She was a faithful Eucharistic Minister, choir member at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and the Hope Ministry. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard J Bitzel; brothers Carl, Emerson, Paul, Cren, Joseph, John and August Rocci; sisters Susanna Saliola, Mary Tonielli, Elvira Princiotta, Pauline Papaleo and Lucille Rocci. Connie is survived by her daughter Susan (Gregory) Jones and son Richard, both of Columbus, OH, and grandchildren Morgan, Madison, Mackenzie and Kyle Bitzel, sister-in-laws Betty Rocci of North Carolina and Barbara Bitzel Ryan of Georgia and many beloved nieces and nephews. Connie loved to cook and celebrate holidays with her family and friends, greeting all who came to visit with a warm welcome. Early on she was a member of Junior Coterie and various card clubs and women's luncheons. She was active in the Catholic Order of Foresters, Sons of Italy, the Canton Italian Festival, AARP and several events at St. Michael's. She loved watching basketball on TV, especially the Cavs. She was a resident of The Inn at Belden where she made new friends, enjoying activities she loved: bingo, painting and craft classes. She continued her love of volunteerism in shows and events held at the Inn, including making an entire spaghetti dinner for residents and their visitors. She was briefly a resident at Meadow Grove Transitional Care facility in Grove City, Ohio and we thank Hospice of Mt. Carmel for assisting in providing comfort for her last days. Family and friends will be received Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Thursday at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Father Scott Kopp and Father Thomas Cebula (her nephew) officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
