IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Count Basile
A. Denissoff
December 3, 1931 – July 11, 2022
Count Basile A. Denissoff
Monday, July 11, 2022, Basile Denissoff, loving husband and father of six children, passed away at age 90.
Basile was born on December 3, 1931 in Durbuy, Belgium to Elias and Marie (Howe) Denissoff. He received his Bachelor Degree from St. Procopius College in Naperville, Illinois. Basile's professional life included working for the Corning Glass Corporation for 40 years. On November 27, 1954, he married the love of his life, Ilona Tompos from Budapest Hungry. They had a long and happy marriage for 67 years. They raised 6 wonderful children, Ann Medinac, Margaret Searls (Mark), Elias Denissoff (Connie), Peter Denissoff (Sharlene), Basil Denissoff (Tawny), and Christine Denissoff. Basile was a proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Count Basile had many passions. He had a passion for our family's Russian history, which is traceable to the 1600, and wrote a book on it. Count Basile had many artifacts, paintings and documents handed down through the Denissoff generations. He traveled as speaker to many Historical Societies educating the audience of Russian history through our family's documented linage. Many items were donated to Cornell University for save keeping and for the public to enjoy.
Basile enjoyed the many vacations he had with Ilona and her sister and brother-in-law, Margit and Richard Nelson - from Hawaii to across the world to Budapest, Hungry and everywhere in between.
We are blessed that Basile was the family's photo journalist. He captured his tremendous love for his family, his love for his wife, his passion for travel and his love of life.
Basile was preceded in death by his father, Elias, his mother, Marie, his two sisters, Jacqueline Benedick, Sister Renata (Elizabeth Denissoff), and his loving daughter, Ann Medinac. He is survived by his loving wife, Ilona, his five children, Margaret, Elias, Peter, Basil and Christine.
