Dan D. Trifelos, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024. A lifelong resident of Canton, he was a 1955 graduate of Canton McKinley High School where he participated in gymnastics, track, and swimming. He earned his B.S. degree from Kent State University. He was a senior member of the Society Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). During his career, he worked as an engineer for several manufacturing companies in the area. On six separate occasions, the Cleveland Advanced Manufacturing Program awarded Dan the "Outstanding Technology Application Engineer" in Northeast Ohio. He retired from Stark State College in 1999.

Dan served in the US army as a radio operator having spent 16 months in Korea. He achieved the rank of Specialist 5th Class. He was a member of the North Canton Elks for over 20 years. He enjoyed attending McKinley football games, fishing, and was an avid golfer. He and his wife Carol enjoyed traveling and wintering in Venice, FL.

Dan loved St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church. As a youngster, he served as an altar boy until age 13 after which he joined the choir. He was a choir member for 75 years. Dan also served on the parish council and the endowment committee along with several other organizations and clubs. He was a recipient of the "Faithful Service Award" and he was named "Man of the Year" for 2021.

Dan is survived by his wife Carol (nee Grunau) Trifelos to whom he was married for 60 years and three children: daughter Joanna (David) Karpinski of Hudson, Ohio, son Steve (Sheila) Trifelos of Strasburg, Ohio, and daughter Elizabeth (Edward) Dragar of Hudson, Ohio. The light of his life were his five grandchildren Katie(Andrew), Andrew, Daniel, Samantha, and Jenna, and his great granddaughters Anastasia and Clara. He very much enjoyed attending their school functions and athletic activities. Dan is also survived by his sister-in-law Helen Trifelos, his nephews James and Michael Trifelos and their families, along with cousins Mary Trifelos and Athene Karis. He was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Nick Trifelos, MD of Columbus, OH and nephew, Greg Trifelos.

On Wednesday, July 24th, the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the endowment fund of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church.
