DOMINICK T. REX, age 86 passed away peacefully Monday evening May 6, 2013, after a brief illness. Dominick was born to the late Fred and Lena (Rocco) Rex. He was a WW II Army veteran serving under General George Patton fighting in North Africa chasing the Desert Fox Rommel in Egypt, ending in Italy then coming home. He worked at Timken steel mill and retired after 41 years. He started his first business doing landscaping, putting in lawns for the Hall of Fame when it was first built, moving on to own five beauty salons and his own Italian restaurant. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, skilled marksman, Ohio State Champion skeet shooter and was enshrined at the Ohio State Association Hall of Fame. Dominick retired for the last time and wrote his autobiography. He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary, only son Ricardo Rex and brother Richard Rex. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years "Sweetheart" Colleen, daughter-in-law Loraine Rex, three grandchildren Eric (Shanna) Rex, Jamie Ferretti, Keith LaBarba, three great-grandchildren Deveyn Moody, Airanna and Gavin Ferretti all in North Carolina, sisters Norma Billman, Patty Price, Linda (Tom) McCoy, brothers Fred (Joan) Rex, Tom (Shelly) Rex, sister-in-law Carol Rex, only godson Paul John Billman, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish with Rev. Fr. Don King, celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Leukemia Research.
