Donald J. "Pete" Geis age 85 of North Canton, passed away early Thursday morning. Born in Massillon to the late Willard and Vivian (Metcalf) Geis, he was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School. Don studied business administration at Miami University, Kent State University and Walsh College. After serving in the Air Force he began his business career at EW Bliss and then went to work for the Hoover Company and Hoover Worldwide, retiring in 1991 after 26 years of service. Don specialized in materials coordination, planning, and purchasing. His career sent him to Europe, Mexico, Asia and Australia. Don loved his work and spoke highly of the Hoover Company for years after he retired. For many years, he and his wife Pat enjoyed annual trips to Cocoa Beach Florida. He was a member of North Canton St. Paul Catholic Church, founding member of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence, and on the Board of the Canton Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Patricia (Sciury) Geis, children Cynthia (Jerry) Feldman, Carl (Catherine) Geis, Steven (Angela) Geis, seven grandchildren; Sarah and Laura Feldman, Isabella, Gabriella, Angelo, Rachel, and Sam Geis, brothers Russell (Roberta) Geis, and Garry (Wendy) Geis. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 am in St. Paul Catholic Church, North Canton, with Msgr. James Clarke as celebrant. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The funeral procession will form at church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Senior Living in Louisville.
