Donna Jeanne (Filliez) Stimer transitioned peacefully into heaven on Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, surrounded by her family. We have all been blessed by mom and her devotion to her family. She was fun-loving, cleverly funny, and had a love of piano-playing, dancing, travel and lunches out. She will be so very missed by all of us left behind, however, we are grateful that she is now renewed, and finally reunited with our dad, the love of her life, after so many years apart. She was born in Canton, Ohio on October 19, 1927. She was very proud of her time spent drafting in the engineering department of the Timken Company as a young adult. After being a stay-at-home mom until we were all in school, she worked in the Plain Local School system, retiring from there in 1988, just in time to spend lots of years enjoying her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by our dad, Nick Stimer, who died in 1996 after 42 years of marriage, her parents Margaret and George Filliez, in-laws Samuel and Mary Stimer, and a brother, Bill Filliez. The following have been left with wonderful memories: Son Brian Mark, his wife Rose Lee, and their daughter Briana Rose; son Bradley Jay, Michele Marie, and his daughter Calle Ann; daughter Claudia Margaret, her husband Kelly Edward, and step-kids Melissa Lynn, Tristan Tod and Paige Kristina; son Brett Sam, his wife Tona Marie, and their children, Samantha Nicole and Nicholas Samuel. (She always used all the middle names even when we weren't in trouble!) She is also survived by her sisters, Georgia and Marjorie, brother Larry David, his wife Geri, sisters-in-law Annie and Vera, and brother-in-law Sam, his wife Genevieve, as well as hosts of other loving family members and friends. There will be no calling hours. Following her wishes, mom has been cremated. Please join us for a memorial service to be held on Thursday, March 20th at East Canton Church of God, 201 Nassau St., East Canton, Ohio (330-488-0366), 6:00 pm, followed by dinner in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, or any charity of your choice. Or, simply be a blessing to someone with our mom in mind!
