(Toney) Shaheen
July 20, 1939 – December 5, 2020
Donna Lee Shaheen, age 81 of Canton, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020. Born in New Castle, PA to the late Michael and Bessie (Charles) Toney.
She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Canton. Donna was a 1957 graduate of Timken High School and spent a lifetime volunteering and serving others, including The Canton Art Institute, Walsh University Women's Committee, Habitat for Humanity, The Stark County Prosecutor's Office and The Salvation Army. She served as President of Mercy Service League and was the campaign manager for numerous local politicians. She volunteered on every presidential campaign from the 1970's through 2000's, and was a delegate at the 2008 Republican Convention. She was employed at Black, McCuskey, Sours and Arbaugh Law Firm.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband George Ayub Shaheen; sisters in law Delores Shaheen, Sally (Shaheen) Michael, Peggy Toney; and brother in law Frank Regina.
She is survived by her two sons George Ayub Jr. and Kevin Michael of Canton, and daughter and son-in-law Maria Beth (Shaheen) and Paul G. Nagel of Medina. She is also survived by her brother Michael E. Toney of Las Vegas, NV; sister Anita Radosevic of Temecula, CA; sister Paula Regina of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren whom she adored very much, Nick and John Nagel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., Very Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin officiating. Interment will be in Northlawn Cemetery. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Donna's name.
