Doris A. (Huth) Upperman, age 89 of Canton, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 4, 2022, after a courageous 8-year battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born in Canton to the late Harold and Veronica (Pearson) Huth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gene Upperman, and son-in-law, Raul Valerio.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Donna) Upperman of Canton, Neil (Teri) Upperman of Louisville, Joy Valerio of Laguna Hills, CA, Dru (Sandy) Upperman of Jackson Twp, Lori Raber of Canton, Daryl Upperman of Canton, Darin (Jane) Upperman of North Canton; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great- grandchildren.

Doris was a 1950 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. After raising seven children of her own, she furthered her education at Walsh College and earned the equivalent of an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Because she was such an advocate for children, she became the owner and director of Laurel Ridge Learning Center, where she was able nurture and educate young children the way she felt was best. Doris also loved participating in the Women's Cancer Survivor Exercise Class at Kent State Stark Campus (better known as "stretch class") for many years.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 9th from 12:00-2:00 p.m., for an informal Celebration of Life at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Respecting Doris' wishes, she will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Susan G. Koman Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
