Doris "Dodie" J. Barbera, age 82 of Canton, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017. She was born in Dover, Ohio on January 12, 1935, to the late George and Helen (Spiker) Sewell. Dodie loved to read, and play cards and bingo. She lived for her children and grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, granddaughter Amelia Onario, and grandson Hayden Swiger. She is survived by her former husband and lifelong friend Mike Barbera, Sr.; seven children Mike, Jr. (Peggy) Barbera of Canton, Cono Barbera of Malvern, Helena Swearengin of Akron, Greg Barbera of Canton, James L. Barbera of Arkansas, Michele (Donnie) Hooper of Florida, and Anna Barbera of Florida. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and sisters Helen Walters of Virginia and Glenna Thomas of Orville. Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m., with Pastor Frank Leghart officiating.
