(Navarro) Shaw

Edith "Edie" (Navarro) (Popovich) Shaw passed away surrounded by her family at home on November 29 th after a courageous battle with cancer. Edith was born in Canton on December 12, 1923 to the late Manuel and Mariana Navarro. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Parish. A 1941 graduate of McKinley High School. Edith then went on to pursue higher education from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and The University of Chicago for advanced obstetrical training. She went on to work as the head nurse of the delivery room at Mercy Hospital and taught obstetrics. Edith also worked for Drs. Loyal and David Leavenworth and in 1955 left to be an Industrial Nurse at Ford Motor Co. until her retirement in 1985. Edith left a legacy of caring, understanding and commitment. Her kind and gentle personality drew in everyone she touched or came into contact with. She adored her family and was extremely supportive of each and everyone of them. She was a true and loyal friend to many and was readily available whenever needed. Her love for life and exuberance will be missed by many. In addition to to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Rudy Popovich, one son Steven and one sister Edna Wood. She is survived by her husband Harry (Pete) Shaw, daughter Pamela Robinson, step-son and wife Harry "Skip" and MaryAnn Shaw, grandchildren Rachael Bitzel, Nicholas, Steven and Jessica DeFrank, 5 greatpgrandchildren, step-grandchildren and spouses Marci and Clayton, David and Carrie, Nick and Hallie DeWalt, and four step-great grandchildren. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at Rossi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday morning at 11am at Little Flower with Rev. Fr. Donald Feicht as celebrant. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mercy Hospice or Little Flowers Catholic Parish.
